The 173M can be supplied pre-assembled to type 173F to form type 173. This fitting may sometimes be used to fix flat sheets to tubes, dependent on load requirements. The tube cannot be joined within the fitting.
Please note that to provide sufficient stability, whole structures must not be made from swivel fittings alone.
